Repurposing Content for Pinterest: Blog Categories
There are just some days (or weeks) where I am constantly working, doing chores, and taking care of my girls - yet my “To Do” list seems to stay the same. I don’t know about you, but when that happens it drives me nuts! I love checking off a list whether it’s a mental list or on paper.
Maybe you’re having one of those weeks and finding yourself realizing you didn’t get to crank out that blog post you had every intention of writing. Sure, we can all use a break and maybe it’s just a symptom of needing a breather or time to get your workload organized.
BUT, what if you could still put out fresh pins without writing any new content?
One way to keep up with your Pinterest Strategy while still being able to take a step back from creating new content is to utilize what you’ve already created!
Let’s say you’re a lifestyle blogger who mainly writes about parenting, interior design, and cooking. You’re finding yourself at the end of a crazy week where your dog needed to go to the vet, your husband was home sick, and your kids were in an especially nutso mood.
Here’s what you can do:
Step 1 - Search Your Categories
Take a look at your categories and topics you have written on multiple times. Identify a category that you could create a category pin for and link back to.
For our example, let’s say you know you have five really great blog posts about decorating your home on a budget and they’re categorized as “Budget Decor.”
Once you’ve identified the category you want to create a pin for save the link or keep it on hand for when you schedule/post the pin image.
Example: www.example.com/homedecor/budget
Step 2 - Create Your Pin Image
Create a pin that accurately describes the content you’re sharing with pinners. Do not just use this as an opportunity for click bait.
For our example, the blogger knows she has quality content all related to budgeting and home decor. So she could create a pin similar to this:
Step 3 - Write Your Title and Description
Write out your title and description. Be sure you do keyword research to find out what pinners are searching for in relation to what your pin is about.
Step 4 - Schedule or Post to Pinterest
Manually Post to Pinterest
When manually posting to Pinterest click “Create Pin”
You’ll then see that you can upload your pin image, add the title and description, and the link. The link will be the one you saved earlier!
Schedule in Tailwind
When scheduling in Tailwind find and click “Create New Pin” (anywhere in your Publisher)
Click “Upload Photos/Videos” and select the pin image
The pin will then load into Tailwind as a draft. Add your title and description, and change the link to match the one you saved earlier.
Then schedule as you normally would
